About Us
Barky's Resort is located on the southwest shore of Otter Tail Lake, about five miles north of Battle Lake, MN. We're a 3-hour-drive north of Minneapolis and about 1.5 hours east of Fargo. The resort is owned and operated by Ryan and Alicia Draeger and their two children, having purchased it in 2014. In total we have 11 cabins on approximately three acres with 400 feet of lake frontage.
We are open all year. "Summer season" runs from early June to late August, and features weekly Saturday-to-Saturday cabin rentals. During our off-peak "winter season" from late August through May, we have a 2-night minimum with stay-and-play packages popular for ice fishing, snowmobiling, and family getaways. Barky's Resort History
Barky's Resort was founded in 1956 by Vincent & Maxine Barkmeier who hailed from South Dakota with a background in restaurants. Along with cabin rentals, they operated a full service restaurant at the resort for many years. It gained a reputation for wonderful dinners and home-made ice cream. Vincent and Maxine operated Barky's until 1980, and we think the restaurant was closed a few years earlier.
